HYDERABAD: The first woman Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy assumed office on Friday with an assurance to develop the city in every aspect and find solutions to the pressing problems of the citizens.
Later, she signed the first file relating to road network detailed project prepared by two firms for networking of roads and improvement of traffic at a cost of Rs. 7 crores. Speaking to reporters after taking charge, she said the issue of pedestrians would be addressed with more footpaths, foot over bridges and under passes. She said projects like MMTS and Metro Rail would be given utmost importance. At the same time, security of working women and college going girls would also get top priority. She also plans to meet the IT companies and request them to contribute for the development and beautification of the city. Earlier, a host of leaders from Congress party including K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, Advisor to Government (Public Affairs) and Parliament member; Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and Danam Nagender, Ministers; P. Sudhakar Reddy, Yadava Reddy, Bhoopal Reddy, Rudraraju and Ganga Bhavani, all MLCs and Secunderabad MLA, Jayasudha attended the ceremony .
