Unwind and Treat Way at NKM's Grand offer a good mix of wining and dining

The more the merrier. Don't we all love to hear this wonderfully succinct mood mantra. And perhaps that explains the optimism of the hospitality industry, with hotels coming up thick and fast on the cityscape. The latest of the lot is Hotel NKM's Grand at Somajiguda.

NKM's has been quite conspicuous on the Taj Residency Road for some time now but with two new additions - restaurant Treat Way and lounge bar Unwind - gourmets and party freaks can look to have a rollicking time. The restaurant first; with 160 covers, Treat Way is quite spacious and offers a melange of cuisines from Indian to Chinese and Continental.

The décor and the ambience speak of comfort but it is the menu that you should be looking out for really. For starters, there's cream soup in prawns, chicken, mushroom and tomato variants besides quaint-sounding broths like Asthi Rastha (South Indian curried soup) and Munagakaya Mamsam soup (drumstick-mutton soup).

Meat-eaters can go for the simply delicious, if funnily named, Lovely Chicken. The dish came as juicy pieces of meat smothered with spices, giving the taste buds a good tingle. Veggies can go for Paneer Achari Tikka or Veg Peshawari Kebabs. The Chinese section offers the spicy Dragon Chicken, Chinese Fried Prawn and the delicate Crab in Hot Garlic Sauce (on availability). Sea food lovers can choose between Crab Hot Pot, Ginger-Garlic Prawns and Chilli Fish.

On the Mughlai side is Murgh Patiala, Chicken Makhanwala and Mutton Saagwala. Andhra food is a bit limited but the favourites are definitely in the fray - Chaapala Pulusu, Kodi Mirpakai Vepudu and Andhra Fried Fish. Expect to pay about Rs. 400 for a table for two.

Over to Unwind. With its cool-blue décor, the lounge bar strikes the perfect note for an evening of small talk with buddies over a couple of drinks.

The music doesn't threaten to distort dialogues or dismember ear drums, quite unlike most pubs in town.

The drinks cover the usual stock from Scotch to Breezers and beer.

With about 40 covers, there isn't much space to stroll around but then you would rather prefer sinking into the comfy couches and catch up with the buzz, occasionally scanning the huge plasma telly or perhaps watch the bartender juggle bottles. NKM does look it's got a good act together. Check it out.
