Café De La Art presents exotic cuisine and art

CIGAR AND CHEESE The warm ambience of the Café

Not long ago buying furniture and artefacts did not signify anything beyond making a brisk shopping trip and an expensive one at that. And now how about one, a Wi-Fi space, that doubles up as an art café, replete with a cigar lounge and coffee table volumes by the fire place (never mind the fact that it doesn't snow in this part of the world.

Conceived by Mirza Mushtaq Ahmed Baig, a twin cities-based industrialist with a penchant for art, Café De La Art is the new address for connoisseurs who would like to smell the wood and experience the Raj flavour before they decide to purchase that Chinese writing table, imposing chandelier, cabinet in oak wood or rock crystal handle. "Everything here is up for sale. We have period furniture paintings, and also antique furniture that people put up for sale," says Baig. Care for San Diego with some Fish `n' chips. Indulge in a double espresso with a Breakfast roll . Or how about a Tiramisu? Courtesy Fusion Foods whipping up an exotic spread to go with the atmosphere. I had seen a similar store in Europe and liked the concept. We have a good response. People who come here are young executives, families and businessmen who would rather prefer a quiet ambience for a cuppa coffee and quiche," he says.

Drop by for a quiet snack with friends and a glimpse of period furniture for a shopping visit later.
