3D animation film being planned on NTR
Thursday, 18.02.2010, 10:11am (GMT+5.5)

Inspired by the recent blockbuster ‘Avatar’, a filmmaker from the State is embarking on an ambitious project to create a full-length 3D animation film on legendary actor N.T. Rama Rao.

Sai Venkat, a film producer and director who has three films to his credit is currently working on ‘The Legend NTR in Heaven’, which he claims is the first full-length 3D animation in South India.

As the title suggests, the 3.5-hour fantasy narrative will be based on the life of the actor in heaven. “It is an imaginary tale of the experiences NTR goes through in heaven, how he is impacted and how his presence would affect the dynamics there. Like in real life, the actor will enter politics,” Mr. Venkat said. From the sound of it, the film seems to be loosely based on NTR’s 1975 runaway hit ‘Yamagola’ though Mr. Venkat promises it would have a flavour of its own.

“It will be a full length masala with comedy, action and entertainment in the right doses. We are still working on the script.” Graphic work for the film will be executed at Dizee9, an animation studio in Jubilee Hills.
Job mela

To meet the human resources requirement of the ambitious project, Mr. Venkat is planning to recruit professionals in different departments of animation at a ‘job mela’ to be conducted on February 27 and 28 at Dizee9’s studio. “We are looking for talented workforce to work on the project. We have a requirement of nearly 2,000 animators for the film. However, we will recruit around 300 in the first phase,” he said during a press meet here on Wednesday. The company would recruit 3D modellers, animators, texturing artists, lighting artists, ‘concealers’ and VFX artists at the job fair. “Freshers or students can also apply. We are not fussy about minimum qualifications etc. We are interested only in taking talented persons who are passionate about animation,” Mr. Venkat said. Applications for the job mela would be available at the animation studio’s office in Swarnabharathi complex, Road No.9, (opposite Chiranjeevi Blood Bank) in Jubilee Hills from Saturday.
