Museum to come up at Phanigiri Friday, 30.03.2007, 06:02pm (GMT5.5) A museum will come up at Phanigiri in Nalgonda
district where the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has given
permission for excavation of historical sites, said Minister for
Archaeology and Museums N. Rajyalakshmi.
Replying to a question by TRS members K. Nagesh and T. Harish Rao in the Assembly on Thursday on the protection of holy shrines in Nalgonda district, the Minister said the structures excavated at the site would be put up in the Museum with full security. The excavation works would be taken up this financial year under the 12th Finance Commission grants. On the other measures to protect religious structures, the Minister said restoration works, such as repairs to the steps, construction of boundary wall on the entrance side, ticket counter, gate and chiselling of steps on the rocks have been taken up at Bhongir fort at a cost of Rs. 12 lakhs. At Panagal in the district, it was proposed to conserve and restore Sri Pachala Someswara and Sri Chaya Someswara Swamy temples, close to Nalgonda town. It was proposed to upgrade the site museums at Panagal and the antiquities and art objects would be displayed according to the latest museological norms. Adhisthana of the Siva temples at Pillalamarri, constructed during the Kakatiya rule, will be renovated, she said. The temples at Kolanpak were being restored as a heritage road was being laid connecting Kolanpak temples with Jain temple. News Department
