Yanamala, Revuri to represent TDP in Delhi
Tuesday, 05.01.2010, 10:22am (GMT+5.5)

                                                           R. Prakash Reddy

Y. Ramakrishnudu

HYDERABAD: The TDP on Monday chose its senior legislator from Telangana, Revuri Prakash Reddy, and politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu from Andhra as its representatives for the all-party meeting convened by Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram on the issue of Telangana on Tuesday.

Their names were finalised by party president N. Chandrababu Naidu after consultations with senior leaders at his residence. The party is learnt to have decided not to deviate from its decision taken in favour of Telangana in 2008, but specific arguments would be made based on the stand to be taken by the ruling Congress as it was likely to get the opportunity to speak first.

It was understood that the party would adopt a line that would not hurt the sentiments either of Telangana people or of those in the other regions. Such a strategy was evident from the fact that Mr. Ramkrishnudu simply told mediapersons that “we (the two representatives) would present the party’s stand as discussed with Mr. Naidu”, whereas Mr. Prakash Reddy was vocal in asserting that he would present a case in favour of Telangana.

He would specifically ask the Centre to commence the process for Telangana formation by fixing a deadline. About 25 legislators and senior leaders of the party from Telangana also left for New Delhi on Monday in different batches as a back-up team in pursuance of the cause and would meet Home Minister P. Chidambaram, if possible.
