HYDERABAD: Burglars struck at a TDP MP’s house in Erramanzil Colony on Sunday and made away with Rs.2.5 lakh. The incident occurred in flat no.302 at Markaz Mansion, Erramanzil Colony.
The offenders entered the house of Chittoor MP N. Siva Prasad by breaking open the main door lock and escaped with a bag containing Rs.2.5 lakh. Mr. Prasad handed over the keys to watchman Ramaswamy before going to Chittoor along with his family three days ago.
Around 5 p.m., Ramaswamy noticed that the main door’s lock was broken open and alerted Mr. Prasad’s relative Padmaja. She informed the matter to the police. The offenders seem to have straight away gone to the bedroom and made away with the cash bag kept in the almirah. Clothes and other articles were also ransacked in the almirah, police said.
Police said persons, who were familiar with the topography of the area, could have committed the crime. “We suspect an insider’s role in the incident. How can thieves directly go to the bedroom after breaking open the main door lock and take the bag from the almirah.
Moreover, watchman told us that he went to attend the funeral of his relative on Saturday and returned on Sunday. We are verifying all these aspects,” said Punjagutta Detective Inspector K. Shashank Reddy.
